Home Security Alarm Monitoring SystemsBy Chris Hopkins

Home Security alarm monitoring is a phone based communication system, which directly links your home security alarm system to an alarm watching facility. This facility, commonly referred to as a monitoring station, is manned 24 hours a day by fully qualified security guards.

Home Security Alarm Monitoring - How It Works

If your alarm is set and your home security is breached your alarm system will automatically and immediately send a distress signal to the monitoring company. The monitoring company has guards watching the screens 24 hours a day just waiting to receive an alarm distress call. When your alarm is activated the security guards alarm monitoring screen will flash to advise that your home security has been breached. The security guard will also receive a set of instructions advising the appropriate actions to take on behalf of you, the client. Such instructions could include, contacting you or another emergency contact, dispatching a guard to attend to your home security distress alarm or informing the police.

In the event that you are away, the home security monitoring company can organize to dispatch an alarm response guard and organize to have any break and enter damage to your property repaired immediately.

There are many home security alarm systems that also include panic buttons and/or medic alert bracelets. These allow a person who is at home but experiencing a home invasion or medical emergency to send an immediate distress signal to the alarm monitoring company. In many cases such distress alarms automatically dial the security monitoring company, providing you with an instant and direct line of communication with the guard at the other end.

Microsoft Worldwide Telescope hardware requirement + screenshot

June6

When Microsoft Research launched Worldwide Telescope, I thought the mandatory hardware requirement is 3D graphic card with 128 MB or 256MB RAM. While a Celeron CPU with 512 MB RAM should enough to run Worldwide Telescope.

But when I logon to Worldwide Telescope website and read the minimum hardware requirement, I was completely wrong.

Here’s the minimum hardware requirement stated on Worldwide Telescope website.

Microsoft® XP SP2 (minimum), Windows® Vista® (recommended)
PC with Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2 gigahertz (GHz) or faster, recommended
1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM; 2 GB RAM recommended
3D accelerated card with 128 megabytes (MB) RAM; discrete graphics card with dedicated 256-MB VRAM recommended for higher performance.

Compared to my office machine,
Windows Vista Ultimate
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2160 1.8 GHz
2 GB RAM with 256 MB assigned to onboard VIA Chrome9 HC IGP

The only reason that will stop my machine from running this program could be my processor.
So, I download Microsoft Worldwide Telescope software to give it a try.

Luckily, Microsoft Worldwide Telescope running smoothly. Maybe there’s not so much different between 1.8 MHz and 2.0MHz processor.
I think I will try this software on my E2140 1.6GHz officemate machine to see if Microsoft Worldwide Telescope can run on it.

By the way, here’s the screenshot from the Microsoft Worldwide Telescope

How To Make Torrent download faster

June6

I was googling around to find ways to boost my torrent download speed.
Since I’m using BitComet, I found this one suite mine.

This tip applies to BitComet client.

1. From your BitComet client software,
Click Options -> Options(Preferences)

2. Locate Global Max Upload Rate under General Settings.
Set those value to 80% of your upload speed.

Eg. If your upload speed is 56Kb/s
then the calculation is (56/100) * 80 = 44.4
so, set the Global Max upload Rate : 44 kB/s

3. Under Task Schedule,
set as 2 the Max simultaneous download tasks number:

4. for Listen Port, set it to between 49155 - 65534

How to have multiple yahoo login in 1 pc

June6

I was thinking about having multiple yahoo login concurrently since I have to share pc with my wife.

Google search give me a link to yahoo answers, and there’s two solution to my problem.

First Solution
Use multiple browser. Well, the most popular browser will be Firefox and Internet Explorer. But,l what if my baby wants to check her email? Just add another browser. Opera or Safari web browser should do the job.

Second Solution
Only for Firefox 2. Install CookiePie Firefox Extension.
CookiePie is a Firefox extension that enables you to maintain different cookies storage in different tabs and windows.

How to use this extention?
- After you login to 1 yahoo mail account, open a new tab.
- Right click on the new tab and choose “Toogle On/Off Cookiepie. An icon will appear on the right side of that tab.

- go to yahoo mail and login with another account.
- To login with another account or 3rd account, just open another tab and login to yahoo mail.

Cookiepie works with Firefox version 2. Sadly it doesn’t work with Firefox 3 RC1. Hope they’ll do something about this.
